Melanie Hansen

Owner

 

Melanie graduated from Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences in 2005, with training in Medical Massage and in 2006, with training in Manual Therapy. She worked in a clinical chiropractic setting for 2-1/2 years before making Healthy Balance Bodyworks her full-time career and focus. Melanie specializes in “problem-focused” massage: TMJ Disorder, Frozen Shoulder, Plantar Fasciitis, Sciatica, Migraine Headaches, Tendinitis and Fibromyalgia, to name a few. She incorporates both soft tissue and deep tissue compressive massage (always within your comfort level) along with joint mobilization, stretching and active isometric muscle contraction to eradicate knotted muscle fibers, restore mobility, increase range of motion, and decrease pain levels and/or inflammation. She suggests tips, stretches, and activities believed to be helpful based on soft tissue and structural findings. Whether for Relaxation, Pregnancy, Sports, Medical or Deep Tissue, Melanie customizes your massage to achieve desired results.

Jessica Hunter

 

Jessica is an intuitive, compassionate massage therapist practicing for over 10 years.  She has been licensed with the State of Michigan since November 2014.  Jessica specializes in therapeutic and trigger point massage to release muscle tension, calm muscle spasms, relieve pain and increase range of motion.  She is also passionate about Swedish and hot stone massage with relaxation and stress relief a main focus.  With an ability to adjust the pressure to just what you need, you're sure to leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.  

 

Alyssa Stirling

Alyssa graduated the massage therapy program at Blue Heron Academy in February of 2018 and started the manual therapy program in May. She has worked in the healthcare field for 7 years and is comfortable treating clients with any kind of health issue. She will work with you on your "problem areas" and can focus as much time as you need on the targeted area. She is skilled in treating TMJ, neck issues, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, among other issues you might have. She is able to do a light touch or deep tissue massage based on your preference and comfort level.

Deanna Johnson

 

 

Deanna graduated Douglas J Aveda institute in July of 2018. She specializes in corrective facials that will target your specific skin concerns and needs, while also giving a relaxing experience. Anti-aging, dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, hyperpigmentation, age spots, acne/acne scars, congestion/clogged pores, and other skin concerns CAN be treated and corrected with regular facials and the proper at home regimen. She possesses a special talent for analyzing skin, performing extractions, and determining a successful plan of treatment for the best result. 

 

She also offers affordable waxing prices, and a discount for returning guests. She recently added eyelash lift and tints to her list of services as well! She is eager and excited to give the best results and quality to every guest at Healthy Balance Bodyworks!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our Yoga Instructors

                                                   Melanie Hansen

Melanie completed 4 weeks of yoga teacher training in Ashville, North Carolina in the summer of 2016. She is the owner of Healthy Balance Bodyworks and also a massage therapist with over ten years experience. She found a passion in yoga after experiencing amazing personal results and she wanted to continue to help others through teaching in her own style. Her knowledge and experience as a massage therapist transfers into her yoga teaching. Her extensive knowledge of the human body aids in a lot of her deep stretching poses.

                                                  Amy Shinabarger

Amy is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).

 

Amy has been practicing Yoga for eight years. 2013 was the start of her Healthier Journey. This was the year she found self love and dropped 110 pounds at home. The following year part of her maintaining goal was to get strong... And yes she meant physically but she also meant mentally.

Leaving home and entering a gym or studio to work out was huge for her...very intimidating but with new self love and the mind over matter mantra, She did it! Finding Yoga and so much more.

With a new found interest/passion in Yoga, Amy was certified for basic Yoga through YogaFit in 2017/18. Later she completed RYT200 and received certification in Aerial Yoga, Barre, Children's Yoga (2-17yrs), SUP Yoga and CEC in Restorative Yoga.

Amy leads Beginner Barre Classes, Aerial Yoga using the Yoga Swing, SUP/stand up paddleboard Yoga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga. You will work the body and the breath, followed with sweet Shavasana.

Amy truly believes Yoga is for EVERYBODY and EVERY BODY. No matter where you’re at in your journey, you are welcome. You have a safe place to grow, to release, free to be. Free to be strong and at peace with yourself.
